Solutions » Virtual Desktop Infrastructure

Osiatis helps her customers to make the correct decisions. Achieving the functional demands and wishes of the customer, as well as the realization of the functional needs. By threating the clients as partners and working together with them, we can clearly en realistically decide which desktop solution is best fitting. The application of Virtual Desktop Infrastructure could be a possible solution.

VDI is a global term for the technique used to present user-desktops, as virtual machines, from a centralized datacenter. The user himself operates his centrally publicized desktop by use of a thin-client or PC.

The use of VDI is a perfect example of the current trends in the market. It enables centralization of all data, thus severely increasing the level of security. Furthermore offers the efficient use of hardware a major saving in energy cost.

Following properties make the use of VDI even more interesting for organizations:

  • Centralized management of the virtual desktops in one central location. This is ideal for those organizations who consist of many small entities or for providing those employees that work from home with business data and applications.
  • Raised security by centrally saving all user- and application data. The access to this data is centrally managed which brings a high level of maintainability and control.
  • With the ease of using thin-clients on the desktop, the energy use decreases, the costs of local support decreases and the cost of purchasing desktop hard- and software decreases as well.

The introduction of VDI has influenced the desktop and also leaded to a change within the datacenter's structure. Nevertheless, the functional (and for some part the technical) structure of a desktop remains identical to the traditional workplace. This has a positive influence on the integration possibilities within existing environments.

A VDI environment requires a new form of management: the centralized publishing of a virtualized desktop, something that requires specialized knowledge regarding hard- and software

Existing processes and procedures for management and support need to be adapted to the centralized environment. The users become dependable of this centrally published and uniform environment. Due to these reasons, VDI requires a very high quality network between the user and the datacenter, but also a high quality datacenter. Availability and quality are key issues.

Applications need to be adjusted technically and procedural for use in a virtualized environment. One of the other key issues is the use of software licenses.

Osiatis has the knowledge and experience in all these areas. Together with the customer we strive to implement the correct solution for the workplace and be successful toward the end-users.
